The Central Evaluation Committee of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties has approved the inclusion of questions regarding patient safety in all Saudi certification exams starting from the current training year, according to its recently approved strategic plan.

"Patient safety is a serious public health issue worldwide," the WHO said, noting that WHO estimates that one out of every 10 patients in developed countries gets hurt while receiving hospital care.

The Commission noted the growing recognition that patient safety and quality of care constitute a critical dimension of comprehensive health coverage.

She stressed that training, developing and evaluating health practitioners in the Kingdom on the safety of patients fulfills the objective of the Authority to protect and promote health in our dear country
